You could also try and source the Kappa DFA book "Dynamic flow analysis". It is a very cogent appreciation of the recent advances (important) in decline curve analysis. Research of the past decade has successfully integrated the pressure transient equations to production data, making both evaluations analytical and forecasts more robust. As you know, earlier decline relationships were empirical, but now with the new rate transient approach, we can get both analytical and numerical solutions.
I myself use these new techniques quite routinely, and while they are brilliantly suited for gas, they do also give us far deeper insights for oil. For example, you can now identify aquifer impact far earlier in advance, identify productivity drops and quantify them, and estimate hydrocarbons in place. After that, you can model your pool and forecast performance with varying skin and flow rates.
Pretty cool
