Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutorial
Here we will start working on real data for well test analysis using Saphir software;
The candidate well for interpretation is A10. It is an offshore oil well with high Gas Oil Ratio GOR.
The formation is Sandstone (Heterogeneous) and the permeability ranges from 0.5 to 3555 md.
Below is the well, reservoir and test information:
well : A10
===============
Guage depth = 2098.7 M.S.S
Datum depth = 2100 mss
reservoir : 2126.5 - 2171.5 mss
perfs. : 2128.4 - 2141.7 mss
OWC @ 2165 mss
por. = 16.7 % Sw = 41 % Vsh = 10 %
Production time = 20000 hrs with the average :
Qo = 350 Stb/d
Qw = 6.5 b/d
Qg = 4.6 mmscf/d
===============================================
test conditions
drawdown period : Qo = 390 STB/D
Qg = 5.7 mmscf/d
W.C. = 2.15 %
oil FVF = 1.45 bbl/stb
r well = 0.4 ft
==============================================
PVT
sp. gr. of gas = 0.754 , oil = 0.856
N2 = 0.182 % CO2 = 0.239 %
Pb = 3377 psi
Please find the raw data in attachment

Extract the attachment in the first post and open Saphir.
File, New
The following window will appear choose the Reference phase Oil and include the other information as below and click Next

A new window will be displayed,
Put the reservoir Temp. and Press. as below screen.
Usually if the memory gauge depth is closed to the perforated interval we can use the same temperature data obtained by memory gauge otherwise should be corrected to the perforation depth.
In this case we considered the reservoir temperature as the maximum value in the memory gauge file and the reservoir pressure the same idea.
The Gas Oil Ratio calculated from the test data in the first post.
Skip the water properties in blue icon and click on Gas properties in the same window

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
In the Gas properties tab insert the values as below shot (same values as in the first post) then click on Oil properties icon (Green one)

Continue....

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
In the Oil properties tab choose sp. gr from the drop down menu and put 0.856 to be matched with the data in the first post.
Click Next

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
A new window will appear as a PVT parameters confirmation which calculated based on your input previously.
If the calculated parameters doesnt match the lab data you can go back to the previous Oil and gas properties screens and choose another correlations.
For instance these value is closed to the lab measurment so will accept.
For saturations values please change it to be as below screenshot.
Click Create

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
Now the project had been created and need to load the pressure and production data for interpretation.
Click on Load P icon (Load pressure data), a new window will be displayed.

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
Choose the "File" from Radio button, Choose Ascii file from the drop down menu and Click on "Open" icon.
This will open a new window asking for the data file that you want to work on.
Point to your memory gauge file (assume you already downloaded from the attachment in the first post).
Click ok,
The following window indicating that the file loaded successfully.

A new window will be displayed as below picture
This type of data (in the attached file in the first post) is consists of four column (1- Time HH:MM:SS 2- Decimal Time in hours since start of memory gauge 3- Pressure in Psi 4- Temperature in F)
The data structure may be different from this case and any other case.
So, don't worry if you face with another format.
We will explain later how to convert from a specific format to another.
For instance choose a field radio button from the Line format list.

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
Now you are free to choose the suitable format for your well test data file; Consider the first row as Undefined by selecting "Undefined" from the drop-down menu under Type column (Row A)
For Row B choose (Decimal time)
Row C choose pressure
Row D choose undefined (since we will not use the temperature in our interpretation).
Now you teached the software Ecrin which data will be used for.
Click (load)

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
A small window will appear asking about time cycles (the software detects multiple time cycle as each 24 hour).
Choose "Ignore new data" and click "Apply to all"

Now you should see the gauge data loaded and displayed as below:
Save your Saphir file.
Will start loading/Importing production data

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
Importing production rates (Gas, oil and water) into Ecrin Saphir and differentiate the Draw Down and Build up periods
Click on the "Rates" tab in the left pane of Saphir.
Enter the same values as screen shot below.
This production rates values from the input data in the first post.
If you put all rates to zero it will be identified as a "Shut in" or Build up period.
An accurate entry for this periods is very important for Analysis.
Now every thing already imported in Saphire and it is Analysis time.....

Re: Ecrin Saphir for Well Test Analysis step by step tutoria
Well Test Interpretation in Saphir
Go to Interpretation tab in the left pane and click on Extract dP
A new window will appear asking you for the period (group) you want to work on.
For instance will use build-up #1 click Ok

For a while, leave the default values as it is in the parameters screen below then OK.
