Problem with gridding

Problem with gridding
Hello Res. Sim. Peeps,
I'm new to Petrel RE and trying to brush up on my software skills.
I was working on a gridding exercise by creating a simple grid.
After I created the grid using "Make a simple grid" dialog box.
I wanted to use the Layer dialog box to subdivide the grid vertically.
The problem is that Horizons, Zones & Layering options are grayed out!!!
Why is that? and what should I do to fix it?
I've take a screenshot of the problem but I don't seem to be able to upload it here.
BTW, I'm using Petrel RE 2018 version.
