yes petro2000
The best method to produce the heavy oil is steam injection
but depends on the field economy and the oil API

Well, you can always look up SPE textbook "Enhanced Oil Recovery". Or you can refer to SPE papers. I have a couple of papers describing the screening criteria for various EOR methods. Will look it up in my folder for you.

In situ combustion technique involves heat generation within reservoir itself. Air is injected and burns some of oil and cause displacement of remaining oil. Water is often injected which transfer heat from combustion zone to the other zones of reservoir so by combination of steam, hot water and combustion gas oil become less viscous and start flowing towards production well. There are different types of In situ combustion methods:

 In Situ dry combustion (forward or reverse)
 In situ wet combustion: This process permits the injected water to scavenge heat left behind the burning front, where the water flashes to steam and moves through the burning front to enlarge the advancing steam zone.
 In situ combustion with oxygen: This process involves injection with air or oxygen, either in alternating slugs or as continuous injection which increases the efficiency.
