Simulation of a Specific portion in a Reservoir

Post by Tejaswy »

I wanted to ask you a question,

I have a reservor (SPE 9) I want to simulate a specific part of the reservoir instead of the whole reservoir.
Please see the attachement.

Can you please help me out on it., How can I ask Eclipse do simulate a specific part of a reservoir instead the whole reservoir. ?

Please see the region marked in the PDF below

Regards

T
I am not a reservoir simulation "expert" but know it well enough to be dangerous :-)

There is a way to do this but be aware of what is being attempted as it is not all that simple.

You can use ACTNUM to deactivate the portion of the model you do not want to be used in the calculations but think about what you will have done in this case. The pressure support of the rest of the reservoir is gone. Thus any activity within the portion that you are modeling will not "feel" the rest of the REALITY once the transient hits the boundaries of the portion you are modeling. There is a way to get around this, it is called FLUX BOUNDARY option. Look in the manuals and you will get a description of how this work. This will be closer to REALITY.

Hope that helps.

Sector Keyword works for E300 only I guess. Any example files for E100?

Best way to get around this problem is to run E300 on your Black Oil Model. Case 3 runs a BLACKOIL model in Eclipse 300. Look in ECL directory
