Tops in eclipse

Post by Tejaswy »

Hello,
I wanted to know how to make a dome shaped reservoir in Eclipse.
I was trying hard to give TOPS for it.
Nothing else occurs to me right now
Any suggestions?

Tejaswy,
Eclipse doen't generate grids, it just imports the petrel one through its Grid section.
You should discuss with your fellow Reservoir Geologist for that, he would be able to generate a grid with the required shape through horizons (under Petrel) unless you want to generate your grid through Flogrid under Geoquest package!

True true....

I was thinking that there was a way of doing it.... just as you can tilt a reservoir at an angle by giving TOPS in the gird section.

So there is no practical way to generate a dome shaped reservoir in eclipse?

I was trying figure out a way to generate a dome like the one attached. A perfect hemisphere.

I do not have petrel to work with.
I do have flogrid.I will get back to you as soon as I get it done.

Just draw Concentric circle on a paper, assume XY dimensions of your choice for example 1km-1km, inner circle represents the upper contour and outer represents the deeper contour, divide the system in equal sized squares, assign each square average depth value for the contours it is lying on, enter these square values under TOPS, run the file and you will get a dome shaped structure.
