tongue, fingering, and coning
what is the difference between tongue, fingering, and coning???
what is instability mechanism?and how does it affect fluid movement?
there was a hint about these in "Basics of reservoir Eng." by R.COSSE but i don't understand it.

Tongue is the shape and tonguing is the process most likely to occur in waterflooding, for instance, where water underide the oil zone and breathrough at producer. Fingering occurs when mobility of injecting fluid is higher than the hydrocarbons and there are no enough gravitational forces acting, injecting fluid try to bypass oil making streaks across it.
Coning is the unwanted flow of water or gas in oil well owing to underlying water zone or overlying gas cap, While in gas wells unwanted flow of water from under lying water zone. This phenomenon is dicussed in detail in Tarek Ahmed's Reservoir Engineering Handbook, Chapter on Coning.
