Water Injection Requirements

Post by aries1322 »

We have a field that we want to waterflood. First question we would like to determine is the amount of water to be injected. As a rough calculation, we can just match the voidage withdrawal to come up up with the answer. But is there any calculation that I can use to estimate the volume of water?

First of all you have to make an injectivity test for the well subjected to inject to it to see what is its injection capacity

don 't forget to calculate the "water coning" of production wells as well. after the start of water injection the main problem is water coning of production wells. for more calculation information u can check www.peteng.com

[align=justify]Really I have no field experience about this matter ( I have just took my petroleum engineering BSC days ago ).

But, I studied water flooding in my faculty. I studied the following methods :

1- Buckley-leverett method.
2- Stiles method
3- Dykstra-Parsons method

We used the above methods in estimating the required volume of water.
