reserve estimation

Post by mohammed107 »

reservoir with 100 MMSTB OOIP calculated from volumetric method and 120 MMSTB FROM material balance, what does this difference mean?

and if reverse is true, what does this mean?

thanks in advance

You ran Material Balance which mean you have production data,
Why you didn't try DCA to ensure the OOIP figures.

Also, the material balance has a lot of assumptions.
Which model you are using for material balance??

this is just an exam question(there is no data)

If the reservoir has produced more than 10% of the OOIP estimated by volumetric data, we can trust the result of material balance.
The difference may be due to averages of porosity, water saturation, thickness, uncertainties in the reservoir area, precense of an aquifer, and so on.

Perfect Mike ,,,
Always there is a difference between MBE and Volumetrics.
