petro,
actually as a Team Leader you should supervise and organize the work your team and you are given by the Reservoir or Technical Manager.
Personally I work in a subsurface team and we have a Team leader...so let me describe a bit how it works and how the team interacts.
First the team is given a set of tasks, among them:
- run some simulation cases for various fields with various hydrocarbon (oil/gas condensate/gas) quality in the same country.
- assess and revise if necessary the development plan, the subsidiary or a partner is implementing.
-follow-up not operated assets...etc
so the Team Leader has the task of take in charge that bunch of work and design a project like gant chart!
He dedicate some people of the team to do a part of a certain job, let's assume the updating of the static model,
He'll follow and implement a detailed break-down of the various activities, their timing and man-hour;
He'll interact with other departments as projects and engineering for example to build and integrated approach from reservoir to surface facilities (dimensioning for instance); with drilling and completion he would have to meet to discuss hydraulic fracturing implementation;
with rock mechanics people he may have to discuss sand production issues;
with lab people he should be able to explain and QA/QC the lab results especially SCAL;
He'll assess the team members activities, their runs.
He'll assisst the team members in implementing and preparing their Simulator data decks and schedules;
He'll have to make some runs on his own for the sake of accuracy, like forcast runs, sensitivities and risk analysis...

So you see, the job of a team leader is a mix of an experienced Reservoir Engineer with very good interpersonal skills to interact with other people in other specialities, in addition he has to have a broad knowledge of the oil/gas business cycle from down-hole (Reservoir) to the plant (surface facilities) and obviously economics as all goes back to money!

Good luck in your job!

Petro,
also try to see the recruiting companies job description when they are looking for Team Leader or what they call Lead Reservoir Engineer" this could be useful as you'll find some ideas about what others are doing and how they see it.
It is always good to know beforehand what we would be requested, so we can report the good way and even request it when needed from others the right way.

Here is an example I took from a linkedin advert:

Responsible for formulating the various reservoir management strategies and reserves positions for the group, in addition to mentoring less senior staff and developing, monitoring and supervising work undertaken by subsidiary companies and consultants to ensure the highest technical standards are maintained throughout the group.

You will be adept at reserves evaluation, history matching simulation models, and applying a wide range of other reservoir engineering techniques to develop quality reservoir management plans. Where the Exploration or BD functions require specialist reservoir engineering support, as the Lead Reservoir Engineer, you will provide this either directly, or through the supervision of third parties.

another post describes the job as follow:
