[ASK QUESTION]_PI Each Sand

Guys,
Any body can help me to find references or any suggestions about " splitting each PI from commingle sand produce."

We have several wells that right now still producing from 2 different layer/sand through one string/tubing. Unfortunately, till now, we never run Production Logging Tools, so we can not determine each sand real PI.

Share your idea, comments or suggestion, please !

sorry man but the only way I know to split between producing layers is to run MPLT son you can assess the contribution of each layer, in a second attempt you could run a well test after the PLT so you can identify each layer's skin and permeability!

yes.kader_007, that is the best solution. But if anybody here are facing the same problem, and do have another best practice solution..let us discuss it. I really appreciated if anybody have one..

Well, if the commingled sands were independently tested prior to being placed on production, then just run a transient test, and model the multi-layer response with differing pi's, and see if you get a suitable match. Use that to generate layer-wise IPR's.

Another way, which is slightly obtuse, but far, far cheaper than mobilizing a PLT crew, is to record flowing pressure/temperature surveys at different chokes. Especially where there is a large enough difference in flow capacities of the commingled formations, you would note that on the gradient survey at one choke, one or more of the formations show negligible contribution. hey presto, that's the reasonably accurate SBHP of those sands. Cross-check the rate, allocate, do IPR, choke back, repeat procedure.....!

You can use the wieghted formation capacity KH*Porosity to perform this task
