Abnormal build-up behavior

Post by kochichiro »

Hello guys my company performed multi-rate testing with final build-up on depleted and watering volatile oil well. You can view history plot and derivative plot down here. The well shows totally abnormal behavior during build-up, I see phase segregation on derivative plot, but than

Pressure Anomalous behavior: A pressure drop is observed after some time of bottom hole shut-in. This was a very common behavior in several well is the south of Texas. It was simulated in laboratory (Universtity of Texas/Shell Oil Co) that this happens as result of phase redistribution at middle times. This is consequence of gas bubbling through liquid, rising the BHP until it exceeds the stabilized formation pressure. This is the point where pressure will decline, or will have a pressure hump, consequence of negative production( fluid back to the formation).

This was documented by C.S Matthews (Shell) SPE paper, H.C. Slider
