Dangers of well logging on humans

Post by X880862531X »

[align=justify]Dear friends,

As u know, in neutron log, a radioactive source is used. I heard that radioactivity has bad effects on humans. For example, bad effects on bones & problems related to sterility.

- If the precautions are carefully taken, is there any harm ?

- Is the matter so dangerous that an undergraduate petroleum engineer may decide not to work in well logging ?

When I was living in a well, that logs were run, the precaution taken was not get close to the well or the rigfloor, to avoid that kind of situations

If the precautions are carefully taken, there is no harm, there's no way people work with logs if there's any

Safety is one of the most important matters in the oil industry

When I worked as a logging engineer I will admit that I stayed away as far as possible from the radioactive sources as possible. When on a logging job this was less possible as the sources were stored for security in the truck in their caring shields.

The sources were always loaded by the engineer into the tools. Again, my strategy was to do this as quickly as possible.

There is no stats on their effect on life, but as you may already sense this, STAY AWAY FROM THEM as much as possible.

Safety FIRST !!!!
