Job Title Geoscientist - Chemostratigrapher

Division Exploration Data Mgmt Div

Position Description Saudi Aramco is seeking to hire specialists in inorganic geochemistry/chemostratigraphy to work in the Chemostratigraphy Team of the Geological Technical Services Division. Of primary interest is experience with sample processing, data acquisition, QC of datasets, interpretation of inorganic geochemical data and production of chemostratigraphic schemes in support of exploration activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in an operational environment and to use chemostratigraphy in conjunction with other techniques (e.g. biostratigraphy) to develop correlation frameworks. The chemostratigraphy team is supported by a state of the art ICP and XRF laboratory, so knowledge of these analytical techniques is required. The successful candidate will also be familiar with wire line logs and have a reasonably good background in petroleum geology in general. Saudi Aramco’s position as a world leading hydrocarbon explorer and producer offers unique opportunities for Geoscientist/Chemostratigrapher to realize their full technical potential in this developing discipline.

Proven track record in relevant discipline as evidenced by previous work such as publications in the peer-reviewed scientific literature/conferences, etc.

Other desirable skills include:

• Strong knowledge of mineralogy and common element:mineral links

• Expertise in acquisition and QC of large geochemical datasets

• Knowledge of ICP and XRF analytical techniques

• Knowledge of industry standard software packages (e.g. ODM, Petrel)

• Knowledge of geostatistics

• Strong working knowledge of wireline tool responses

• Ability to work in a team

• Excellent communication skills

• Fluent in written and spoken English

Duties & Responsibilities The focus of this role is on producing chemostratigraphic correlations. Responsibilities will include:

• QCing of inorganic geochemical data generated by ICP and XRF
• Plotting of geochemical profiles for individual elements
• Graphical and statistical evaluation of geochemical datasets
• Production of chemostratigraphic schemes
• Integration of chemostratigraphic, biostratigraphic and lithostratigraphic data as part of a multidisciplinary approach to reservoir correlation
• Collaborating effectively with other team members within a multidisciplinary Group.
• Prepare/review reports.

About Us Saudi Aramco’s Exploration & Producing (E&P) business line oversees the world’s largest reserves of conventional crude oil, and the fourth-largest reserves of natural gas. Company geologists are actively seeking additional reserves in many areas of the Kingdom, offshore in the Gulf and the Red Sea and onshore in the deserts and mountains. Petroleum engineers and earth scientists in E&P work with cutting-edge technology to manage and produce these reserves, including 3D visualization, reservoir simulation and remote geosteering of multilateral wells. The Company’s Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center, or EXPEC, is home to one of the industry’s most powerful computer centers. Research and development into subsurface upstream technology is conducted at the EXPEC Advanced Research Center.
