Toolface orientation
Hi,
i was wondering how is the toolface adjusted, since rotating the pipe on surface isn't proportional to the rotation of the bent sub downhole. I guess with surveying (MWD) i will be able to determine the deviation.. There is also a scribe on the bent sub...how does this help me on surface?
thanks

Hello, I'm new to this website, I'm Hossam Rashad from drilling team
i hope to clarify to you some thing, when you use motor, you adjust toolface and then drill in slide mode to the direction you want this is while drill pipe is in stationary mode with no rotation.
after drilling interval in certain direction then you rotate string and continue drilling in rotary mode.
MWD give you the inclination and Azimuth and it helps you to determine how much slide you want and in which direction, at this time you use the toolface to direct the well. or making the scribe lin face to the direction you need.
i hope to make it clear
