Hello everyone,

I have a question. I want help with Borehole Image log. Can anyone help me understand what things can I deduct from a borehole Image log

Thankyou,

So... There are couple different borehole imaging tool. Most popular are acoustic and electrical imaging tools. The rule is the same - you will get a centimeter scale image of the borehole wall. It is very usefull tool for fracture and breakouts identification.
How to do that?
You are looking for low acoustic amplitude (if acoustic imaging) of the reflected signal - these are generally darker areas. If patches - can be breakouts, if lines - can be fractures or sedimentological features. As tool is rotating (360 degrees) you can figure out also the dip of these features (pretty neat for stress orientation if fractures or sediment source if sedimentological, isn't it?).
The best way of learning is actually taking a set of logs and interpretation done by someone else. Unfortunately interpretation is tricky and full of traps (conductive - non conductive fractures, drilling induced fractures etc.).

Thanks Leszek,

Can we post any example of the borehole image then we can discuss practically,

I will look into it....

Sure, there you are:
FMI - fullbore formation microimager (microresistivity based) with interpretation:

That was a nice image, but usually it isn't so simple:

And as I said in previous :re - we are tracking darker areas.
I'm not a borehole imaging specialist but I think I can answer some basic questions?

Hello sir,

Thankyou so much for replying and sharing your knowledge.
I understand lighter part ( more resistive ) one is pay part sandstone while darker part is non pay part.
Here is one in attachments too.

What I get confused with are these tails and heads that give dipping directions and dip angles. Can you please explain them?

Also is it just about finding dipping directions and dip angles?
