Non-darcy flow is usually manifested most clearly in gas reservoirs; on a test, it shows up as the abnormally high skin factor - which is assigned the term "apparent skin factor, s' ". From a modified Isochronal, we get the reconciled true skin value. It is this value that first decreases ...

Broadly, back of the envelope kind of work? Resource, drive mechanism, IOR/EOR envisaged, EUR/reserves, productivity, forecast simulation production profile, sand geometry, evacuation stratedy (platforms, wells, pipelines). Tot that all up into capex and opex and see what the returns look like. Fran...

To me, for offshore benchmarking, the single most important criterion is establishment of commerciality !!!!!!

You could also try and source the Kappa DFA book "Dynamic flow analysis". It is a very cogent appreciation of the recent advances (important) in decline curve analysis. Research of the past decade has successfully integrated the pressure transient equations to production data, making both ...

Hi sesshoumaro.

Could you get around to preparing the material? This is an important topic which has the potential of becoming a sticky if well attended by all.

Fanarco. Different wells in same reservoir. Ignore P* (that's another story in itself). My point is that all the wells exhibited the same puzzling trend: dual-p/k trough initially, and then only/primarily linear after some significant depletion. Production mainly light, sweet crude with v.v. low GOR...

Note the discernible absence of the trough in what is very definitely an NFR in one snapshot, but the definite presence in an earlier test in the same res.

Two lessons: 1. You're never too old to learn 2. In the oil industry, not every question has a solution Yesterday, I was stumped after quite some time: I was looking at a build up in a depleting naturally fractured reservoir with known matrix porosity. But on the diagnostics, the dual porosity troug...

Hi Fanarco. Was away on tour for quite some time. I've had the privilege of using most of the popular PTA packages. But really, after ten solid years of computer-based interpretation, the best is Fekete's FAST welltest. They have an excellent support system, and for licenced users like us, the upgra...
